As one must, we had a nice sleep-in before checking out of the hotel.
Clearly, the next concern was food. We were lucky to come across a nice
brasserie with paninis, omelettes, and a friendly waiter. When I went up (admittedly, with Dad's money) to pay, he told me
"en France, c'est les hommes!" (In France, the men pay!).

Had a wander through the nearby
shopping district, which Mum particularly enjoyed, and then went non-commercial by sitting in one of the shelters on the
Promenade des Anglais and writing postcards in the sun. It was certainly a nice day to be out on the beach.

As we were more or less filling in time until an evening train, we just kept wandering up the Promenade towards the Vieux Nice area. We were lucky, as we stumbled upon the Swamp Cats, a
wicked rock'n'roll band which was out busking, and had gathered quite a crowd.

After
gelato in the old town, it was time to tram back to the hotel, and hop on the train for our 5-hour trip to Carcassonne.

Or, so we thought. We had a
delay due to something ridiculous like people throwing rubbish bins onto the train lines, so got to
Carcassonne much later than planned, and only hit the sack at 1.18am. :S
